Presentation

This research thematic is handled by the four research teams of the institute. But two teams are mainly oriented towards this thematic.

The first one entitled "Microstructures and Materials" is devoted to comprehension, the modelling and the numerical simulation of the dynamic behaviors of materials and complex structures.

The second one is entitled "Biomechanics". it is devoted to the dynamics of the biomechanical mediums, in particular of the head and the cervical column.

Activities

The sector mechanics and health gather mainly the following teams:

Coherence set of themes is here related to the study of the properties of the laws of behavior, or the processes associated with materials whose microstructure plays an important part, including on a macroscopic scale.

The materials concerned can be certain amorphous or semicrystalline, or composite polymers (polymeric reinforced by glass fibres or carbon), but also of biological materials (cranium, brain, cervical column, tendon), or useful materials for human safety in transport (helmets,…).

In particular the dynamic properties of these materials interest us specifically and relate to many applications (transport, surgery repairing, aeronautical, new processes,…).

The bonds between UTR are then obvious and still largely will develop, that it is by the means of the experimental or dynamic approaches or by modelings and digital simulations, fascinating of account their specificity. Moreover, of the strong bonds are exploited with biology, the physics and the chemistry of materials for better including/understanding and optimizing the properties of these various materials.
