Presentation

Objective/Context

The objectives is to develop a methodology of research, namely: development of concepts, theories, methods, instruments and models relating to the complex fluids, the phenomena observed in flow and the processes which implement them.

The branches of application interested by this research are extremely varied: agroalimentary, beauty care, chemical engineering, oil industry, cleansing, etc

A second shutter of the activities is directly related to the resolution of problems applied and is based on the knowledge obtained in rheology and hydrodynamics of the complex fluids.

Activies

These activities, which are based on a balance between the experimental one on the one hand and mathematical modeling and the digital simulation on the other hand, are turned towards the study of the behavior in fluids with complex structure in geometries close to those met in industry: macromolecular liquids (polymeric), liquids presenting a particular microstructure (foams liquidates/gas, emulsions liquid/liquid) and suspensions solid/liquid.

The activities of research are articulated around three principal axes :

• The knowledge of the behavior and the laws constitutive of complex fluids
• The modeling of the behaviors in real situation and their approach by analytical or numerical computer codes
• Design and the implementation of means of measurement and exploitation of information for the metrology and the operation of the works and systems of cleansing.
